Role:                     Site Agent

Location:             Taunton

Salary:                  £28k to £38k Depending on Experience plus car, pension, 28 days paid leave & IT

Our client is looking to recruit an experienced Highways Site Agent in the Taunton area.  This is a permanent role.

As a Highways Agent you will already know what is expected from you in your normal day to day routine.  In this role you will have full responsibility for managing a depot within your area and will take ownership for delivery of both in-house and subcontracted works across the area. You will lead the depot team and be fully supported by both your Area Manager and supporting functions (QS, Programmer, foreman and a central design function).

As you will know this work will include the delivery of safety defects, routine maintenance, safety maintenance, structural maintenance and cyclic maintenance including winter service and emergency response.

You will need to show competence in:

  • Review, plan and deliver works in a manner which meets or betters gross margin targets, whilst working closely with Foreman and lead operatives.
  • Forecast the projected outcome of the commercial position for works to provide increased certainty of future contract performance.
  • Work collaboratively with your Programmer to ensure a rolling programme is maintained for works, and Start/Stop status information is provided.
  • Provide gangs with clear expectations and productivity targets on a daily basis.
  • A good level of experience in highway maintenance delivery and workforce supervision.
  • Commercially driven to be able to capture working cost efficiencies, cost control and saving money wherever possible for the mutual benefit of the client and your employer.
  • Good general IT skills are essential.
  • Effective team management, leadership and influencing skills to get the best from everyone.
